About the Torino quiz
Torino were founded in 1906 by dissidents who split from Juventus, and the maroon shirts made them the granata — Il Toro, the bull, on the crest. This free Torino quiz covers the whole story: the Derby della Mole against the old enemy, the fortress Filadelfia, and the greatest and most tragic team in Italian history. If you know your Toro, this is your test.
Il Grande Torino won five consecutive Serie A titles in the 1940s, built by president Ferruccio Novo and captained by Valentino Mazzola, the attacking number 10 who defined an era — in one 1947 international, Italy's team was almost entirely Torino players. Then, on 4 May 1949, the plane carrying the entire squad crashed into the Superga hillside above Turin. Every player died, four games from another title. Superga is not just history — it is the club's soul, honoured every year since.
There was life after: the 1975-76 Scudetto under Gigi Radice, sealed in a title race with Juventus; the 1993 Coppa Italia; and the 1992 UEFA Cup final, reached by knocking out Real Madrid in the semi-finals before losing to Ajax on away goals.
