No footballer has dominated the charts quite like Gunnar Nordahl, the Swedish AC Milan striker who claimed the honour five times between 1949 and 1955 and set benchmarks that stood for decades. Later eras produced their own serial winners, from Michel Platini's hat-trick of titles at Juventus in the mid-1980s to Ciro Immobile, whose four crowns for Lazio include a record-equalling 36-goal haul in 2019-20.

Seasons are shared where two or more players finished level, and the wartime years of 1943-44 and 1944-45 are omitted because no official top-flight championship or scoring title was contested.

Mateo Retegui of Atalanta won the 2024-25 Capocannoniere with 25 goals, finishing six clear of Juventus and Fiorentina forward Moise Kean. He was only the second Atalanta player to top the Serie A charts, after Filippo Inzaghi in 1996-97.
Why are some seasons missing from the list?
The 1943-44 and 1944-45 seasons are omitted because World War II halted the official national championship; a regional wartime tournament in 1943-44 is not recognised as an official Serie A title. The league resumed in 1945-46.
