About Marseille
Olympique de Marseille were founded in 1899 and are one of French football's giants, roared on by a famously passionate support at the Stade Vélodrome. This free Marseille quiz covers the whole story of OM: the white and blue of the city, the motto 'Droit Au But' ('Straight to the Goal'), the flamboyant Bernard Tapie era, and a place in history no other French club can claim. If you know your OM, this is your test.
In 1993, Marseille became the first French club to win the European Cup / Champions League, beating AC Milan 1-0 in the final in Munich with a Basile Boli header. That side, captained by Didier Deschamps and managed by Raymond Goethals, is the club's crowning glory. It came alongside one of the game's great scandals: Marseille were later stripped of their 1992-93 French league title over a domestic match-fixing affair. The quiz covers both the triumph and the fall, plus nine French championships and decades of stars.
Expect questions on the 1993 final, the managers, the great players, and the club's proud identity. You'll be asked who scored the winning goal against Milan, who captained the side, and what the club's motto means. Difficulty climbs from easy openers about the Vélodrome and the club colours to genuinely hard deep cuts about specific finals, transfers and seasons.
