How the Swansea City quiz is checked

Every question above was written by hand and verified before it went live.

Every Swansea City question here was checked twice before publication — once against the claim the question makes, and once against the wrong answers offered beside it. A question whose wrong options can be dismissed without knowing any football is not really a question, so those get rewritten or dropped rather than padded out. Anything that could not be confirmed was removed rather than guessed, which is why some sets are smaller than others. Every one of them carries a written explanation. Spot something wrong and tell us — corrections from players are how the bank stays accurate.

About the Swansea City quiz

Swansea City are the Swans, formed in 1912 as Swansea Town and renamed in 1969 when Swansea was granted city status. The Vetch Field — named for the crop once grown on the land — was home for 93 years until the move in 2005.

In 2011 they became the first Welsh club to reach the Premier League, going up through the play-off final under Brendan Rodgers. Two years later Michael Laudrup's side beat Bradford City 5-0 to win the League Cup, the biggest winning margin in the final's history and the first major English trophy won by a Welsh club.

That period produced one of the great bargains too: Michu, signed from Rayo Vallecano for around £2 million, scoring 22 goals in his first season.

The foundations were laid earlier by John Toshack, who as player-manager took Swansea from the Fourth Division to the First in four seasons from 1978, and by the supporters' trust, which took a stake when the club was close to liquidation in 2002 and held it through the top-flight years.

The Swansea City set runs the full range — easy starters, a medium core, and hard questions a devoted fan has to think about.
