How the Eintracht Frankfurt quiz is checked

Every question above was written by hand and verified before it went live.

Every Eintracht Frankfurt question here was checked twice before publication — once against the claim the question makes, and once against the wrong answers offered beside it. A question whose wrong options can be dismissed without knowing any football is not really a question, so those get rewritten or dropped rather than padded out. Anything that could not be confirmed was removed rather than guessed, which is why some sets are smaller than others. Every one of them carries a written explanation. Spot something wrong and tell us — corrections from players are how the bank stays accurate.

Eintracht Frankfurt quiz — FAQ

Have Eintracht Frankfurt ever won a European trophy?
Twice, as of 2026. The first was the 1980 UEFA Cup, won on away goals in an all-West German final against Borussia Mönchengladbach after Fred Schaub came off the bench to score at the Waldstadion — and after Bayern Munich had been knocked out in the semi-final, a 2-0 first-leg deficit turned into a 5-1 win after extra time. The second was the 2022 Europa League, won on penalties against Rangers in Seville under Oliver Glasner, with Rafael Borré scoring the equaliser and then the decisive spot-kick.
How many DFB-Pokals have Eintracht Frankfurt won?
Five, as of 2026: 1974, 1975, 1981, 1988 and 2018. The first came in 1974 with a 3-1 win over Hamburger SV after extra time, and the fourth in 1988 through a Lajos Détári free-kick against VfL Bochum. Then nothing for thirty years, until Niko Kovač's side beat Bayern Munich 3-1 in the 2018 final with two goals from Ante Rebić.
Who holds Eintracht Frankfurt's appearance and goalscoring records?
As of 2026, Charly Körbel holds the Bundesliga's all-time appearance record with 602 games, every one of them for Frankfurt between 1972 and 1991. The club's Bundesliga scoring record belongs to Bernd Holzenbein with 160 goals. For a single season, André Silva's 28 goals in 2020-21 is the club's Bundesliga best.
What is Eintracht Frankfurt's stadium called?
It is Deutsche Bank Park, though supporters mostly call it the Waldstadion regardless of who is paying for the name. Commerzbank held the sponsorship from 2005 until 2020. It is the ground where Fred Schaub's goal won the 1980 UEFA Cup, and where Bernd Nickel scored directly from all four corner flags.
About the Eintracht Frankfurt quiz

Two European nights, sixty-two years apart, and Rangers in both of them. In 1960 Eintracht Frankfurt reached the European Cup final by taking Rangers apart 12-4 over two legs, then walked out at Hampden Park and lost 7-3 to Real Madrid in a match people still reach for when they want to describe how football used to look. In 2022 they met Rangers again, this time in the final itself, in Seville, and won it on penalties. A club can go a very long time without its story rhyming like that.

The foundations were laid before the Bundesliga existed. Frankfurt won the German championship in 1959, beating Kickers Offenbach in the final in Berlin, and that title is what sent them into the European Cup run that ended at Hampden. They were founder members of the Bundesliga in 1963 and finished third in its inaugural season. The first DFB-Pokal came in 1974, 3-1 after extra time against Hamburger SV, and the peak of that generation arrived in 1980: an all-West German UEFA Cup final against Borussia Mönchengladbach, settled on away goals when Fred Schaub came off the bench at the Waldstadion. The harder night had come earlier in that run, when a 2-0 first-leg deficit against Bayern Munich was overturned 5-1 after extra time at home. Cha Bum-kun was in that side; he would win the same trophy again in 1988 with Bayer Leverkusen. Frankfurt's own fourth Pokal came that same year, a Lajos Détári free-kick beating VfL Bochum 1-0.

The names that define the club to its own supporters are mostly from that stretch. Charly Körbel played 602 Bundesliga games and never played them for anyone else — as of 2026 that is still the competition's all-time appearance record. Bernd Holzenbein holds the club's Bundesliga scoring record with 160 goals, again as of 2026. Bernd Nickel, 'Dr. Hammer', scored directly from a corner at all four corners of the Waldstadion, which is the kind of detail a club keeps forever. And in 1976 goalkeeper Jürgen Pahl and Norbert Nachtweih walked away from an East German youth-team trip to Turkey and eventually ended up here. Then came the years that hurt: level on points at the top going into the last day of 1991-92, beaten 2-1 at Hansa Rostock and third by nightfall; Anthony Yeboah finishing as the Bundesliga's joint top scorer in both 1993 and 1994; relegation for the first time in 1996.

The modern club found its way back through the cup. Niko Kovač's side beat Bayern Munich 3-1 in the 2018 DFB-Pokal final with two goals from Ante Rebić, a first win in the competition since 1988, and Kovač was at Bayern by the summer. A year later Frankfurt went to the Europa League semi-finals and lost a shootout to Chelsea. Alexander Meier had already topped the Bundesliga scoring charts in 2014-15; André Silva scored 28 in 2020-21, a club record for a single Bundesliga season; Luka Jović was sold to Real Madrid in 2019, and Kevin Trapp, who had left for Paris Saint-Germain in 2015, came back on loan and then for good. Under Oliver Glasner in 2021-22 they won the Europa League without losing any of their thirteen matches, knocked Barcelona out at the Camp Nou along the way, and had the competition's player of the season in Filip Kostić and its decisive man in Rafael Borré. Randal Kolo Muani arrived from Nantes that summer; the Champions League run that followed ended against Napoli, beaten in both legs of the round of 16.

The Eintracht Frankfurt set runs the full range — easy starters, a medium core, and hard questions a devoted fan has to think about.
