How the Olympiacos quiz is checked
Every question above was written by hand and verified before it went live.
Every Olympiacos question here was checked twice before publication — once against the claim the question makes, and once against the wrong answers offered beside it. A question whose wrong options can be dismissed without knowing any football is not really a question, so those get rewritten or dropped rather than padded out. Anything that could not be confirmed was removed rather than guessed, which is why some sets are smaller than others. Every one of them carries a written explanation. Spot something wrong and tell us — corrections from players are how the bank stays accurate.

About the Olympiacos quiz
On 29 May 2024 Ayoub El Kaabi headed in Santiago Hezze cross in the 116th minute and Olympiacos beat Fiorentina 1-0. It was the first European trophy in the club history and the first won by any Greek club — and they lifted it at the Agia Sophia, AEK Athens ground, in their own city but not at their own stadium.
The road there ran through Aston Villa. A 4-2 win at Villa Park and a 2-0 second leg made it 6-2 on aggregate, under a coach who had only arrived in February. Jose Luis Mendilibar took charge on 11 February 2024, months after winning the Europa League with Sevilla, and had the Conference League by May.
European nights are the spine of this quiz. Michel side beat Manchester United 2-0 at the Karaiskakis in February 2014, Alejandro Dominguez turning in Giannis Maniatis effort before half-time and Joel Campbell — on loan from Arsenal — making it two, before Robin van Persie hat-trick at Old Trafford turned the tie. Eighteen months later Olympiacos won 3-2 at the Emirates, with Arsene Wenger having picked David Ospina ahead of Petr Cech.
And there is the rest of it: Kostas Fortounis arriving from Kaiserslautern by way of Asteras Tripolis, Vasilis Torosidis heading for Rome, Yaya Toure winning a double in 2005-06 before Monaco, and the Derby of the Eternal Enemies — working-class Piraeus, where the club was founded in 1925, against the old Athenian society in the city centre.
The Olympiacos set runs the full range — easy starters, a medium core, and hard questions a devoted fan has to think about.
