Liverpool were 3-0 down to AC Milan at half-time in the Champions League final; Gerrard's header just after the hour started the comeback, the Reds drew level at 3-3, and they won the shoot-out to lift the European Cup as captain. It remains the single most famous night of his career, but it sits alongside a 2006 FA Cup final so dominated by him it is simply called "the Gerrard final," and a 2001 season in which he helped Liverpool win the UEFA Cup, FA Cup and League Cup treble.
