About the Dinamo Zagreb quiz

Dinamo Zagreb were established in 1945 and have long been the standard-bearers of Croatian football, playing in blue at Maksimir Stadium in front of the Bad Blue Boys. This free Dinamo quiz covers the whole story: the modri — the blues — the Eternal Derby against Hajduk Split, the European nights, and a talent factory that has fed the biggest clubs in the world. If you know your Dinamo, this is your test.

The club's great European trophy came in 1967, when Dinamo won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, taking the two-legged final by beating Leeds United. Since Croatian independence they have dominated at home, and their academy reads like a who's who: Luka Modrić, who left for Tottenham Hotspur in 2008 before becoming a Ballon d'Or winner, Mateo Kovačić, Dejan Lovren and Mario Mandžukić all came through Maksimir. In 2020 they beat Tottenham 3-0 on the night in the Europa League, Mislav Oršić scoring a hat-trick, and a year earlier goalkeeper Dominik Livaković became a national hero at the 2022 World Cup.

Expect questions on the 1967 final, the Eternal Derby, the managers, and the players who made their names in Zagreb before moving on. You'll be asked which English club Dinamo beat to win the Fairs Cup, which future Ballon d'Or winner left for Tottenham, and what the club's colour is. Difficulty climbs from easy openers about the city and the blue shirt to genuinely hard deep cuts about specific finals, transfers and seasons.

Every question comes with a short explained answer, so even a miss teaches you the detail that makes it stick. Play the sample set below free in your browser, no sign-up needed. The full Dinamo Zagreb quiz — plus daily challenges, leaderboards and multiplayer — is in the Ball IQ app.
