Johan Cruyff was the Dutch genius who didn't just play football — he rewired how the whole sport thinks about it. He rose through Ajax's academy to become the face of Total Football, moved to Barcelona in a world-record deal, wound down his playing days across the United States, Levante, a second Ajax spell and a final title-winning year at Feyenoord, then came back as the manager who built Barcelona's Dream Team. If you can picture the Cruyff Turn against Sweden, hum along to "Clockwork Orange," and argue that the 1974 Netherlands side was better than the team that beat them, this quiz is built for you.
The numbers behind the mythology hold up. Cruyff won the Ballon d'Or three times — in 1971, 1973 and 1974 — a haul only a handful of players have ever matched. At Ajax he scored 193 goals in 245 games and lifted three straight European Cups; at the 1974 World Cup he dragged the Netherlands to the final and took home the Golden Ball as the tournament's best player, even in defeat to West Germany.
