  1. 1911 — The club was founded on 5 January 1911, four years after Cairo rivals Al Ahly (1907).
  2. Farouk I — King Farouk I, himself a Zamalek fan, granted royal patronage in 1941 and the club became Farouk El Awal (Farouk I) Club.
  3. Mixed — Mokhtalat means 'Mixed' - the club's crest history records the change from the 'Mixed Club' to the 'Farouk Club' by royal order.
  4. A Nile island district of Cairo — In August 1952 the club was renamed after the area where it stood: Zamalek, the island district in the Nile in Cairo.
  5. White with two parallel red lines — Zamalek's colours have never changed: an all-white kit with two parallel red lines across the chest.
  6. Al Ahly won 1-0 — On 9 February 1917 Al Ahly won 1-0 at Zamalek Stadium; three weeks later Zamalek won the return 1-0.
  7. 6-0 — Zamalek beat Al Ahly 6-0 in the 1941-42 Cairo League and again in the 1944 Egypt Cup final, with King Farouk watching.
  8. The Master — Fans called Hassan Shehata 'the Master' (Al-Moallem). The Fox was Hamada Emam, the Emperor Hazem Emam and the Apache Shikabala.
