Only Os Belenenses (1945-46) and Boavista (2000-01) have ever broken the monopoly, each managing a single, celebrated title. Everything else has been a Lisbon-versus-Porto tug of war, from Benfica's Eusébio-era dominance in the 1960s to Porto's run of six titles in seven seasons in the 2000s.
