How good is your football knowledge, really?

Ball IQ is a free football quiz game. There is no sign-up and nothing to install — open it in a browser and you are playing in about ten seconds. If you would rather have it on your home screen, there are native apps for iPhone and Android. Whether you call it football or soccer, the questions are the same.

Two things to play every day

Footle is the daily football word game: guess the mystery footballer's surname in six tries, with green and yellow tiles telling you how close you are. One player a day, the same one for everybody, so a result is worth comparing.

The Daily 7 is seven questions in roughly three minutes. Everyone in the world gets the same seven on the same day, which is what makes a score worth arguing about. Both reset at midnight.

Quizzes for your club, your league, your era

The bank runs to thousands of hand-curated questions, spread across more than a hundred dedicated quiz pages. Clubs run from Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United through to Celtic, Rangers, Galatasaray, Boca Juniors and Hajduk Split — 72 clubs, not just the famous ones. There are league and tournament quizzes for the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, the Bundesliga, the Champions League, the World Cup and the Euros, plus pages built around individual players.

Built on explanations

Most answers come with a short explanation of why they are right — the season it happened, who else was involved, what made it matter. That is the part people come back for. Getting a question wrong and learning something is a better outcome than getting it right and learning nothing, and it is the reason the questions are written by hand rather than scraped.

Play against other people

You can host a live room for up to eight players and race them through the same questions in real time, or pass a single phone around a table for two to six players. Both are free, and the online rooms work from a shared link — nobody else needs an account.

Reference lists

Alongside the quizzes there are 51 reference lists — every Ballon d'Or winner, every European Cup and Champions League final, Premier League top scorers, World Cup winners and more — kept as plain, checkable tables for when you want the fact rather than the game.

Who makes it

Ball IQ is independent, built and maintained by one developer, and free to play. Read more about the project, or get in touch if you spot a question that looks wrong — corrections from players are how the bank stays accurate.
