tide

Guided breathing you can do with your eyes closed.

Getting help

Email privacy@balliq.app with anything at all — a bug, a protocol that feels wrong, a sound that is too loud, or a question about your data. It reaches a person, and it is the fastest way to get something fixed.

If you are reporting a bug, it helps a great deal to say which protocol you were running, roughly how far into the session it happened, and whether sound was on.

Before you use the Wim Hof protocol

Wim Hof breathing is thirty fast, deep breaths followed by holding the last one in. It will probably make you light-headed and tingly. Some people faint.

If you are pregnant, or have a heart condition, epilepsy or high blood pressure, speak to a doctor first. Tide is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat or manage any condition.

Your data

Tide has no accounts, no backend and no analytics. There is nothing to sign in to, and nothing is sent anywhere.

Your practice history — which protocol, how long, and any breath-hold times — is written to your own device and stays there. It is not synced, not backed up by us, and not readable by anyone but you. Deleting the app deletes it.

Because no data ever leaves your phone, there is nothing for us to hand over, sell, or lose. If you would like your history gone sooner, delete the app.

Common questions

The app is silent. Check the Ring/Silent switch on the side of your iPhone, then check that Sound is on in Settings — the gear icon at the top right of any tab.

The session stopped when I left the app. That is intended. Tide holds the screen awake during a session so you can set the phone down, but it does not run in the background. Sessions that were interrupted are still recorded in Practice.

Which protocol should I start with? Resonance. Even in, even out, no holding — it is the calm baseline, and everything else is a variation on it. The Practice tab explains all five.

Is there a subscription? No. Tide is free, and there is nothing to buy inside it.

Sounds

The rain, waves, fire and bell are public-domain (CC0) field recordings; their sources are credited inside the app. The breathing tone is not a recording at all — it is generated on your phone, by the app, as you breathe.
